Mario Ciferri is a concert organist, harpsichordist and choir and orchestra conductor. His organ repertoire spans five centuries, from Frescobaldi and Bach to the French and German symphonic tradition of Franck, Widor, Vierne and Reger, up to the twentieth century of Dupré, Duruflé and Messiaen.

He performs in solo recitals, as a soloist with orchestra and as a continuo player on harpsichord and organ with Baroque and symphonic ensembles, in Italy and abroad. His repertoire for organ and orchestra includes the Concerto op. 100 by Marco Enrico Bossi.

The «Città di Porto San Giorgio» International Organ Festival was founded in 2007 to showcase the 1966 F. Zanin organ of the town’s main church, an instrument of great importance for the Fermo area and for the Marche.

Every summer the Church of San Giorgio Martire hosts Italian and foreign organists who perform the great repertoire, from the Baroque to the contemporary.

The concerts are free of charge, thanks to the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fermo, which has made the programme possible since the first edition.

For organisers

Every instrument
has its own voice.

A pipe organ lives in the space where it stands, and no two are alike. Mario Ciferri builds the programme around the instrument he will find, the acoustics of the hall and the expected audience, with the option of a preliminary visit. Nothing is left to chance: the organiser can count on an evening prepared down to the last detail.

A single point of contact

Organist, harpsichordist and choir and orchestra conductor: the same artistic presence can sign a solo recital, a Baroque ensemble with basso continuo or a symphonic concert. One reference point, one musical vision, from the first rehearsal to the last note.

A recognised name, in Italy and abroad

Around eight hundred concerts in more than twenty countries, from the great European cathedrals to the Russian philharmonic halls, often before an audience of connoisseurs. A career that lends authority to your season and gives the press and institutions a story to tell.

Beyond the concert, lasting value

As holder of the chair of Organ Practice and Gregorian Chant at the «G. B. Pergolesi» State Conservatory in Fermo, Mario Ciferri can accompany concerts, on request and in Italian, with lectures and talks on the history of the organ and its repertoire: a way to give the programme depth and to bring new audiences closer to the instrument.

A great evening begins long before the first chord.
